Five local athlethes took part in the South Downs Way 50 mile race, an event that starts in Worthing and finishes in Eastbourne. There is a lot of climbing involved as the route takes athletes along the heights of the South Downs Way, passing along this beautiful hilly corridor and giving views northwards to Ashdown Forest and the capital and southwards across the English Channel. The wind was blowing and luckily for all involved, it was blowing eastwards so the runners had the wind at their backs for much of the race. There were some great times with all five Holland Sports athletes finishing the race well within the cut-off time for this massive running adventure. Well done Nick Morrison (14th place in a time of 7 hours 10 minutes and 15 seconds), Kier Dale (10 ours 27 minutes and 32 seconds), Cat Neave (11 hours 19 minutes and 47 seconds), Jane Barnett-Roberts (11 hours 35 minutes and 36 seconds) and husband Dave Hyman (11 hours 35 minutes and 36 seconds). If you want further inspiration about the beauty of the scenery along the race route (long-lingering drone shots) and the satisfaction that athletes get from completing this event check out the race photos and video on the Centurion race website.
