Anyone who has done this race, knows that ‘undulating’ does not describe the mountain that greets runners after about 7 miles. It goes on, and on, and on. And then when you reach the pub at what you think is the top of the hill within the leafy, green village of Fordcombe – the hill still continues to climb. Well done Matt Pears who finished the race on Sunday in a time of 1 hour 53 minutes and 57 seconds: a great effort.
Sadly, there are no photos of Matt actually running the race – but he was able to provide photographic evidence that pints of lager were being distributed free to runners as they passed the one and half mile point. Apparently, drinking pints of lager whilst running a half-marathon is quite hard but it does give incentive to jog back round to this point when finished to claim a free-pint and enjoy drinking it properly! Well done, Matt.
