Neil Danby’s blue and white army were back in action on Saturday; the team was ready after a week of training in snow and ice.

The women kicked off the day, and they did in style, the squad of 15 were not scared of the longer race distance as they spread the blue and white stripes through Mitcham. The team was led home by Lucy, ahead of Alice who ran her best finish of the season. Kirsty continued her excellent form as Emma also scored for the team. The devout team chemistry was evident as the team cheered every member of the club into the finish.

The men reached their highest league table finish of the season (6th). Jack made it 3 wins from 3 Surrey League races; Andy Green ran sensationally well to finish second for the sports and Ben Hilson broke into the A team for the first time. The team are already talking about finishing on a high in the final race of the season

Surrey League continues to be a special day that gets the team together.

Holland Sports’ second claimer and popular ‘Running Youtuber’, Nick Bester, was also at Mitcham Common on Saturday, racing in the senior mens’ race. Nick had trained hard on the Friday so struggled a bit: you still get a real feel for the undulating, as well as a chance to find out what it’s like to run in one of the most ‘stacked’ cross-country leagues in the country.
