Junior Track & Field and Middle Distance

Jeff Manson

A specialist cross-country and distance coach, Jeff worked for many years as a teacher in local secondary schools, promoting athletics and cross-country where he did so. He has consistently developed and inspired young athletes, gaining county and national success. He is a member of Surrey Schools Athletics Association, secretary of the local Epsom Downs cross-country league and has combined coaching at Holland with school sessions based at Oxted School for cross-country running and middle distance. Young endurance athletes increasingly transition into the senior endurance squad as they move from youth to adult competition. Jeff’s legacy is that as men and women re-discover running and the joy of competing in their early twenties or thirties, they have Jeff to thank for inspiring them in the first place in their teens.

Matt McGill

Matt is a committed and enthusiastic coach who has progressed from the junior ranks at Holland Sports Athletics Club, into the senior ranks.

As an athlete, Matt started as a sprinter over 100 and 200 metres and has gradually moved up the distances and now focuses on the speed endurance of the 400 metres.

He is keen, passionate and enjoys working with the youngest members of the Holland Sports Athletics Club community, seeing them take their first steps in athletics before they move on to focus on running, jumping or throwing as they grow older.
