Great to be able to report back on personal bests from recent event to recent event, as well as how well athletes at Holland Sports Athletics Club are doing, but the hard-work for all the athletes at Holland Sports is done around the track and fields of Mill Lane and along the country lanes that surround Hurst Green. Saturday mornings start with ‘grass reps’ on any weekend that the seniors are not racing. Multiple laps around the fields at the clubhouse are easier on the ankles and knees, give a controlled effort and as the winter deepens, become increasingly hard as the fields become wet and boggy. When effort is more important than simply pure speed, the grass repetition session at Mill Lane is a great way to build strength for the on-going cross-country season. This session is our ‘bread and butter’.

Come along and join us as different groups are put through their paces – it’s a great way to start the weekend, with athletes fully justified in having a bacon-butty and cup of tea from the clubhouse when they are done. Today was frosty and cold to start, with the sun coming through the mist as the morning progressed – a beautiful morning to be out running.
