Not for the faint-hearted, the Beachy Head Marathon takes athletes westwards from Eastbourne, over Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters on the way out and back, adding huge elevation to the already gruelling twenty-six mile route. Anyone who has walked the Seven Sisters knows the effort involved in climbing each of the cliffs, with usually the prospect of an ice-cream, cup of tea or scone at either or both ends. Well done Holland runner, James Staton, who took on this challenge at the weekend, finishing in a time of 4 hours 19 minutes and 15 seconds. A great effort.
