Athletes from Holland Sports Athletics Club were in action again on Friday night around Battersea Park in the Friday Night Under the Lights Christmas 5 mile event. A distance that isn’t raced too often, the race featured 2022 1500m World Champion and 2025 World Championship silver medallist over 1500 metres Jake Wightman, as well as a whole host of other local talent.

Well done to Jack Woods and Kieran Barnes who finished together in 24.24, Lyndon Marfell who came home in 27.25 and Holland Sports second claimer, Douglas Aikman, who finished the three circuits of this fast, flat course in 25.44. The evening was a successful one for Holland Sports Jack Kavanagh who again came home in first place, taking a course record with a time that places him 11th on the UK all-time list over this distance. Check out the video below to see how Jack once again used his strength and fast finish over the last kilometre to first close the gap to the leader, Tonbridge’s James Kingston, and then put daylight between himself and his pursuer to come home in a course record of 22.49: great running all round.
