The Friday Night Under the Lights races in Battersea park have been very successful ventures for Holland athletes in recent times, and Friday proved this theme again.

Following exceptional cross-country performances, Ben Hilson (15:21) and Sam Burgoyne (15:15) battled to PB’s. They both produced stellar tactics to run their times.

Ruby Carter and Mark Burchett have been familiar faces at Holland training sessions, it is fantastic to see them run strong times in Battersea, Ruby ran a personal best, and Mark ran a ridiculous closing 400 metres to dip under 16 minutes.

Watching Christian Lee race again was a positive sign of things to come, we know how good he can be when consistent.

Following a display anyone would be proud of in Armagh; Kieran Barnes ran in the A race alongside Andy Green. Only two months after his last personal best in Battersea, Andy ran 14:36, and there is much more to come from him over the summer.

Holland representation in the elite race is always a good thing. Ben Pearce ran solo for most of the race, one of the hardest things a runner can do, his performance expressed dignity and passion. Jack Woods knows his race tactics; he started from the back and picked off athletes like a prime Dexter Morgan.
