Nine Holland Sports athletes made their way to Nonsuch Park for the annual Surrey Masters Cross-Country Championships. Not every county organise and run championships like this for those athletes over thirty-five years of age, who might not be as fast as those their fellow club mates in their twenties but that make up the vast bulk of the athletes who run and compete nationwide. Almost three hundred athletes started in the two races, the women and men over sixty-five years of age running over six kilometres, and the men aged between thirty-five and sixty-four running over nine kilometres.

Well done Lucy Berryman who podiumed in the F35 race, coming in third, with clubmate Kirsty Cutting finishing in fourth. Well done too, to new Holland runner Adrianne Gibbins who came in 8th in her age-group race.

A team of four contended the M45-54 team race with Steve Aish, Nick Morrison and Chris Blackburn taking home the silver medal in this age-group. Well done to Chris Blackburn who won the county title in the M5o age-group.

Many thanks to Oloff Van Zyl who recently joined Holland Sports as a second claim member and come to give post-race sports massages to finishing Holland runners.

A lovely afternoon of gently competitive racing: this is an event that Holland Sports will definitely be returning to next year.
