Holland Sports’ Jack Kavanagh represented England on the road once more in the Armagh International Road Races in Northern Ireland. Known as one of the fastest 5km races in Europe, athletes travel from far and wide to compete against one of the deepest fields in European athletics. Anyone who has ever completed a Parkrun will be familiar with the distance of 5k: most people will not have run this distance in under 14 minutes. Over the multi-circuit course around the streets of Armagh, Jack let the leaders go before reeling them in over the last 600m of the race. Almost catching the eventual winner towards the line, it was an exciting finale watched on the big screens at Holland Sports’ by the gathered members of the Holland Sports Association in the clubhouse at Mill Lane Recreation Ground. Well done to Jack, a second place and a new PB of 13.35 puts him on the UK all time list just behind Sir Mo Farah, right at the front of a field that saw 154 runners break 15 minutes.
