Eleven local runners set off from the start-line to complete the 50 miles of our ‘local’ ultra race, the North Downs Way 50. The chat on the Holland Sports WhatsApp group beforehand was of exactly which kit to pack and to carry – the feeling definitely being that less is more and that lighter is better. The weather was good and the times to complete the race quite astounding. Well done all those that completed the 50 miles as well as all those family and friends that took the time to support the runners.
Nick Morrison was the first local runner home in a time of 7 hours, 46 minutes and 47 seconds. He was followed by Aziouz Lammali (9 hours, 23 minutes and 14 seconds) who won the V60 event. Local runner Marcus Ferrari came home in 10 hours, 28 minutes and 57 seconds with Holland Sports second claimer Cat Neave coming home in 10 hours, 46 minutes and 1 second alongside Emma Proto just a second behind her. Kier Dale came home in 11 hours, 14 minutes and 15 seconds. Coming home in a group were Sarah Anderson (12:01:23), Sophie Lovie (12:01:32), Kirsty Kavanagh (12:01:32) and Aran Harris (12:01:35). Heidi Quine completed the local contingent, home in a time of 12 hours, 36 minutes and 32 seconds. Well done all.
