The marathon world record might have been broken in both the men’s and the women’s races, with the first sub 2 hour marathon in competition taking place in the men’s race, but the action and interest for Holland Sports was happening behind. First home were Phil Swinburn (2:38:36) and Luke Davis (2:39:05) cracking the 2 hour 40 minute barrier. Behind them, breaking the 3 hour barrier were a whole host of local athletes with Tom Simpson (2:56:43), Stuart Brown (2:57:29), Harvey Voller (2:55:37) and James Ellis (2:58:57) finishing closely together. Paddy Murphy stuck closely to the 3:05 pacer all the way through the race, finishing in a time of 3:05:25 and fresh off the Boston Marathon on Monday, Steve Aish finished in a time of 3 hours, 13 minutes and 13 seconds. Emma Proto (3:13:53), Rob Jupp (3:30:03), Aziouz Lammali (3:31:55)  and Rosie Fontaine (3:34:25) completed the Holland Sports representation. Well done all who took part in this historic race and well done to all the Holland Sports runners that went up to London to stand on the streets and cheer the athletes on, or to help marshall the event. Another great day of running and another great day to be involved in.
