The end of the summer season means the County multi-event championships. Two of Holland Sports’ senior athletes were at Carshalton over the weekend to compete in two days of competition at the south London venue. Both Matt McGill and Tom Rady competed well, with Matt recording PBs in the 100 metres (11.75), long jump (5.28), shot put (8.89 and high jump (1.44). The second day slightly favoured Tom with the technical pole vault competition showcasing his all-round jumping skills. Decathlon is a great way to test an all-round athlete – a real balance between speed, agility, strength, co-ordination and power. After two days of competition, Tom finished with the silver medal and Matt, finishing his first decathlon, came home in 5th.
If you want to join our multi-eventers, or competed in your youth and want to get back into training and potentially competing, please pop down to the track on a Tuesday or a Thursday evening. Tom and Matt would love your company and you would be joining a growing club at Mill Lane in Hurst Green.
