A great turn-out from the junior girls at Holland Sports Athletics Club at the weekend, who competed at Epsom in the all-girls Lily B Athletics League. There was local interest in the sprints, distance events and also the jumps from athletes who train at Mill Lane each week with some cracking performances from those that attended. Well done Phoebe A, who won the Under 14 girls 100 metres and placed second in the 200 metres. Well done to Eloise R who placed 3rd in the Under 14 800 metre after leading into the wind on the first lap. A PB for Holly C in the Under 16 1500 metres of 5.04 as she chases a sub.5.00 minute time that will gain her selection for the national age-group triathlon squad later in the summer. Well done to Isla M who cleared 1 metre 25 in the Under 16 high jump in pretty windy and wet conditions. The afternoon finished with the relays – lovely to have three junior girls’ squads out competing in the Under 12 and Under 14 events. Hopefully, the images and videos give you a flavour of the event and the competition – great to have so many involved and competing.
