Holland Sports were out in force again on Friday for the September Friday Nights under the Lights races around Battersea Park. The two-lap circuit of the park is always fast and the cool, still conditions today after a summer characterised by hot, stifling races, were pretty near perfect for running quickly. Well done Holland Sports’ Jack Kavanagh who made the running over the final kilometre only to be pipped at the line by a fast-finishing James West from Tonbridge in a time of 13.52. In the same race, Andrew Green gained a new PB of 14.32 with Kieran Barnes finishing just behind in 14.52.
Four local runners ran in the men’s C race, with Matt Orbell, now based in London, comng second in a new PB of 15.24. Behind him, a fast-finishing Mark Burchett crossed the line in 15.51, with Chris Blackburn finishing in 16.07 and Sam Long crossing the line in 17.02, just shy of the seventeen minute barrier.
Well done to all those members of the wider Holland Sports Athletics Club membership that came up to watch, as well as the few mums and dads that cheered from the sidelines: a great evening of running.
