Holland AC Senior Men 4 Div Champions

HOLLAND SPORTS AC WIN THE 2021/22 SURREY 4 DIV CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE BY A COSMIC MILE

The 4th and final Surrey 4Div cross country league race took place this Saturday at Lloyd Park in conditions that tested the best over a muddy 8km slog with some water sections close to a foot deep and wind blowing you two steps back for every step forward. If that wasn't enough the whole team had to wait until mid morning to receive confirmation that the race would go ahead after the devastation left by Storm Eunice the day before.

After Fridays storm we thought we may get a break in the weather but in true British fashion two hours before race start the sky's opened up on us.

Once again our tight knit team did not disappoint and 20 A & B team runners turned up to take on the elements clad in only running shorts & vests. With 300 runners on the start line a huge raw bellows out like the scene from Brave Heart but this time in defiance of the weather.

The starting horn goes off & the hurt locker begins. Both A & B teams won convincingly with some of our best individual performances of the season. Two of our youngsters Harry Lawson & Josh Knight brought the team home in 1st & 2nd place and a special mention to James Ellis who as a V40 (Over 40 years old) came in overall 3rd place. Individual league positions across all 4 races: Senior Overall Men: Harry Lawson 1st place. James Ellis 4th place. Neil Danby 5th place. V40 (Over 40's) James Ellis 2nd. Nick Morrison 3rd. Paddy Murphy 5th. V50' (Over 50's) Neil Danby 1st place.

BIG BIG WELL DONE Team Holland who now move up to division 3 which starts in October 2022 so any local runners out there please come and join a great team of friendly passionate runners. Summer road race league and track races will be starting from April.

A big thanks to all the support from the team's families & friends & Barbara's Brownies which once again tasted like heaven at the end of the race.
